The Elf Bar Elfa Pro, Elfa and Elf Bar Mate 500 Vape Kits

With talk of disposables potentially being banned in multiple countries, including the UK, Elf Bar, a major brand of the throw-away device is ramping up efforts to gradually replace their popular disposable flavours with a refillable alternative.

Step forward their first creation, the Elf Bar Mate 500, which was released in 2022 and we previously reviewed. As we know, the vape industry moves at a very fast pace with new technology and innovations. So, with that in mind, today we thought it would be a good idea to see how the older pod kit compared to Elf Bar’s latest device – the Elf Bar Elfa Pro, a follow-up from the Elf Bar Elfa with a few exciting new features. Do they match up or does new beat old with ease?

What’s the Difference Between the Two and the Original Elfa?

If you put all three together, it would be difficult to tell them apart. However, inside the devices, some subtle tweaks will please vapers for different reasons. First, let’s discuss the initial game-changer – the Elf Bar Mate 500.

After the huge boom in interest for Elf Bar disposables like the Elf Bar 600, and the latest greatest Elf Bar 600 V2, despite their obvious advantages as all-in-one convenient devices, there are currently loud murmurs of unrest that people are throwing away kits (disposing of the battery after single use), which can be damaging for the environment and more expensive for the customer.

Therefore, Elf Bar introduced the Elf Bar Mate 500, which you can recharge and when a pod is empty dispose of that instead and swap for another. For Elf Bar disposable fans who found it difficult to replicate the flavours with other brand alternatives, finding that replicated flavour in a prefilled pod format was ideal!

But the dilemma lay with the consistency of flavour. While the prefilled P1 pods were a big hit with vapers, sometimes the flavour didn’t remain the same from the first puff to the last. And the same applied to the original Elfa pods.

How Do They Vape?

This is where it gets interesting. Now with the QUAQ mesh coil technology which can be found in the Elf Bar 600 V2 disposable and most importantly the Elf Bar Elfa Pro, this means prolonged flavour right to the end of the pod's life.

Better yet, there is also unique e-liquid-to-coil separation technology introduced for the Elfa Pro. Therefore, because they are kept apart until you auto-draw on the mouthpiece like you would a cigarette, the flavour stays fresh for as long as possible and doesn’t need to be saturated over a long period.

Are the Flavour Choices the Same?

For beginners and experienced vapers alike, Elf Bar has you covered with a wide range of fruity flavours that are strong in profile and can help you move away from smoking. In addition, each prefilled pod kit comes with a handy prefilled pod included to get you started, so that’s always a bonus!

In terms of the number of flavours, the original Elfa pod kit is available in six different kit styles with cool colour themes and the pods included of course. Then when that first pod is empty, you can replace it with 11 alternative flavours listed below:

  • Pink lemonade
  • Strawberry ice cream
  • Cranberry grape
  • Watermelon
  • Blue sour raspberry
  • Elfbull
  • Cola
  • Banana
  • Blue razz lemonade
  • Kiwi passion fruit guava
  • Strawberry kiwi
  • Blueberry
  • Blueberry cotton candy

But with the better flavour and consistency of the new Elfa Pro pods, we recommend going with those if you seek more reliability and a longer-lasting taste. Plus, you have many more options with 23 different flavours to choose from. Check out the Elfa Pro pod list of what we have in stock currently here!

Design And Functionality Comparison

Truthfully, Elf Bar has not innovated much in terms of appearance. The Elfa and Elfa Pro are identical in terms of dimensions, weight (31g apiece), look and smooth materials that create a firm comfortable grip for either pod kit. Both have a battery capacity of 500mAh and the Elf Bar Mate 500 is similar in size.

Setting up any of the devices is easy enough to do, so any level of vaper can get straight into vaping like they would with an all-in-one disposable vape kit. You just take the battery out of the packaging, remove the pod from the wrapping, attach it to the top of the battery and screw it into place. Job done!

All of the devices are auto-inhale but you’re just doing your bit for the environment by charging them and just throwing away each pod responsibly when it’s empty. With the Elfa, you have six colour options, eight with the Elfa Pro and five with the Elf Bar Mate 500.

Each pod is leakproof so you can save every drop of e-liquid, and they each contain mesh coils too. However, as we stated earlier the QUAQ mesh coil technology for the new Elfa Pro is a significant improvement.

Final Thoughts

You can’t go wrong with either. Each of the three kits provides flavour very close to the impact Elf Bar disposables have made. They are all reliable and simple to use. But with the Elfa Pro, you get the added bonus of better coils and the e-liquid separation technology sets it apart from the rest, providing better flavour and sustained consistency. It’s just up to you which flavours take your fancy and your preference for the pod kit colour.

To summarise, Elf Bar offers affordable pod kit options which are all rechargeable, better for the environment and your bank balance. If we had to choose ourselves (this is subjective of course) - we rate the Elfa Pro pod kit number one out of the three!
