Vaporesso Xros 4 Review - How Does This Pod Kit Perform?

Posted by Pure E-Liquids on 6th Jun 2024

Our next exciting review is a focus on the Vaporesso Xros 4 vape kit, which introduces the new 0.4 Ohm pods and 0.8 Ohm exclusively with the kit, available for under £25. Not only does it offer great value for beginners and experienced vapers alike, but a stylish look and cross compatibility with a plethora of pods to choose from.

Following on from other Xros pod kits such as the Vaporesso Xros 3 Mini, how does it stack up against other pod kits for those looking to switch from cigarettes or disposable vapes, and is it worth your money? Let’s find out!

Is the Vaporesso Xros 4 a Unique Product?

Honestly, there is nothing outstandingly new about the Xros 4. First, what we need to mention is that Vaporesso introduced this device as part of the Xros series, alongside the smaller and yet surprisingly heavier Vaporesso 4 Mini simultaneously.

Neither device is groundbreaking in pod kit technology but as standalone devices in 2024 offer a great vape experience and most importantly cross compatibility with a wide range of pods.

There are tons of coil resistances you can add to the Vaporesso Xros 4, which is both good and bad (more about that later).

It offers a generous 1000mAh battery capacity which should easily last a mouth-to-lung vaper at least one day depending on the pod chosen, but slightly less with a restrictive direct lung coil which should be matched with a higher VG e-liquid for those with PG sensitivities.

Overall, the device is a handy compact kit for varied levels, and looks great visually, with minimalistic features and a reliable build quality. If you already own one of the Xros devices, there isn’t a huge difference between previous models – just steady upgrades in features.

How Does It Vape?

Let’s start by explaining about the new 0.4 Ohm mesh pods featuring the 2.0 Corex technology. What this offers compared to previous fixed pods from the Xros series is a seriously excellent vape hit – particularly when vaping with an RDTL style. As a comparison with other popular pod kits such as the Uwell Caliburn series or the Vaporesso Luxe series, it’s right up there as one of the best for delivery and consistent flavour.

However, to new vapers, it could look a little too confusing with all the different resistance pods. Each contains a fixed coil with an open system, meaning you can refill for the duration that the coil lasts (roughly two weeks to a month depending on use) and then you throw it away and replace with another Xros mesh coil when you’re done.

What might be confusing to new vapers, or even the more experienced among you, is the sheer volume of Xros pods out there. As an example, you will notice a big difference between a draw of the 0.4 Ohm compared to the 1.2 Ohm pod for instance, but between that, there are also 0.6, 0.8, and 1.2 Ohm pods to choose from. Slight increments don’t seem to make a big difference honestly.

Vaporesso might have been better off providing fewer options, but it’s also good that a vaper can pick and experiment with what works best for them. Bear in mind though that the Vaporesso Xros 4 and the Xros Pro are the only devices that can support the 0.4 Ohm pods for now.

Design And Functionality Explained

A big positive about the Xros 4 is the design and user-friendly nature. At first glance, the bold colour schemes stand out in a crowd, with options like lilac purple and champagne gold our favourites.

Each pod is large with a curved mouthpiece and clear container to see the e-liquid levels, which is a handy plus.

In terms of operation, it’s very simple to use. Here is a quick rundown:

  1. Just five clicks to turn on the device and power off when done vaping.
  2. Three clicks to activate the power output, then another three to adjust between low, medium and maximum power (adjusted based on the pod inserted).
  3. Four clicks lock the device on and off.
  4. Pop the top off to fill with e-liquid.
  5. With the standard Xros 4, which is slightly bigger than the mini, the type-c charge port is on the side compared to the mini where it’s located at the bottom of the device.
  6. You can fire via the button or auto-draw the Xros 4 by inhaling on the mouthpiece.
  7. The airflow control switch is on the back of the kit and simple to adjust when needed.

It can be a little slow switching between the modes compared to other pod kits we have tested but still very straightforward to operate, which is always a bonus.

Any Disadvantages to the Device?

  • It would be handy considering it’s aimed at beginners if there was a puff counter on the Xros 4.
  • Not the biggest battery capacity but decent enough with a very fast charge!

Verdict

There are lots of benefits to this pod kit. The Xros devices always deliver a reliable vape experience, and the new 0.4 Ohm pod offers a fantastic restrictive direct lung. The flavour is stellar as expected from Vaporesso, and the device itself visually looks striking, with some cool colours which appeal to all.

While it doesn’t rock the boat in terms of innovation or significant difference from previous models in the series, there are plenty of vapers who will appreciate the plus points the Xros 4 provides.
